    Description

    The Communications Committee is a standing committee that oversees strategic communications to promote the WWA’s mission and purpose. The committee provides guidance and the implementation of the communications functions of the website, social media, and other communication avenues to promote and market WWA actions and WIC news.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assisting in the continuous development and maintenance of the WWA website
    • Creating and distributing quarterly newsletters
    • Promoting current news and events through Facebook
    • Coordinate any additional communications that may be needed for WIC marketing or action alert purposes

     

    2024 Goals

    1. Meet with additional website designers to discuss website needs and advancement\
    2. Update the WWA Website monthly (Especially: up to date job opportunities and other WWA events that need additional guidance and communication to members)
    3. Create and distribute 1-4 newsletters annually
    4. Establish a new logo and color scheme
    5. Maintain presence on WWA Facebook with a minimum of 1 monthly post.

    Description

    • Advocacy is education and is not lobbying. Advocacy is speaking out on issues or programs or supporting a proposal or cause. In WIC, this means we focus time on education about the benefits of the WIC Program and dispelling myths about the Program. 
    • Advocacy provides the opportunity to lay the foundation for policy change. It includes education the public and policy makers about WIC, highlighting the achievements of WIC clinics in the media, and hosting events that promote, celebrate, or inform about WIC.  

    Responsibilities

    1. Educate WWA members on how to best advocate for WIC. 
    2. Provide opportunities for WIC staff to advocate. 
    3. Document legislative/advocacy efforts put forth by WWA Board and members. 
    4. Develop and maintain advocacy partnerships with organizations that have a similar mission and focus. 

    2024 Goals

    1. Increase WWA members’ confidence and participation in advocacy efforts.
    2. Provide scholarships to at least 3 Wisconsin WIC Staff to attend the NWA annual policy conference.
