  • WWA Monthly Spotlight – Communications Committee (3/20/23)
    • Each month, we would like to showcase one of our Board positions or committees so that you can become more familiar with how we operate. Did you know that any WWA member is welcome to get involved with any of our committees? If you are unsure if your Project is a member of WWA, just ask your WIC Director.

    • For March, we are highlighting the Communications Committee! This committee focuses their time on providing communication from the WWA Board to our members through email (MailChimp), FMR, WWA website and social media (Facebook).  If you are interested in joining the WWA Communications Committee or would like to nominate someone else to join us, please contact the committee chair, Camen Hofer at camen.hofer@woodcountywi.gov.

  • Nutrition and Dietetics Advocacy Summit March 28th-30th (3/2/23)
    • Check out this advocacy opportunity from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics here!  Registration closes March 8th.

 

  • WWA Monthly Spotlight – Membership Committee (2/24/23)
      • Each month, we would like to showcase one of our Board positions or committees so that you can become more familiar with how we operate. Did you know that any WWA member is welcome to get involved with any of our committees? If you are unsure if your Project is a member of WWA, just ask your WIC Director.

      • For February, we are highlighting the Membership Committee! The Membership Committee focuses their time promoting WWA membership throughout the state, educating locate project staff members about WWA and the benefits of being a member, and ensuring each WWA region is represented on the WWA board to allow the local projects’ voices to be heard. The Membership Committee holds the annual membership drive, assists with the recruitment of At-Large and Regional Representatives annually, and works to engage members to active participate in WWA committee work. If you are interested in joining the WWA Membership Committee or would like to nominate someone else to join us, please contact the committee chair, Suzanne Polacek at spolacek@healthfirstnetwork.org.

  • NEW Public Comment Opportunity Open Now through May 24th (2/23/23)
      • USDA is proposing a rule change to streamline and modernize WIC and offer online shopping to WIC participants. Make YOUR VOICE heard!  Click here for more information and to submit your comment: https://www.regulations.gov/document/FNS-2022-0015-0001 (The State WIC Office is requesting local Wisconsin WIC agencies that plan to comment reach out to Carrie Coenen to provide a unified and consistent message.)

  • WWA Monthly Spotlight – Advocacy Committee (1/27/23)
    •  Each month, we would like to showcase one of our Board positions or committees so that you can become more familiar with how we operate. Did you know that any WWA member is welcome to get involved with any of our committees? If you are unsure if your Project is a member of WWA, just ask your WIC Director.
    • For January, we are highlighting the Advocacy Committee! The Advocacy Committee focuses their time on educating the public and policy makers about the benefits of the WIC Program and dispelling myths and misinformation. As WIC staff, you know the WIC Program best and should elevate your voice to protect and strengthen WIC. The Advocacy Committee presents you with many opportunities to do so such as: promoting Action Alerts on social media, partnering with the National WIC Association (NWA) to provide testimonials and public comments to support their efforts to enhance WIC services, and meeting with local legislators. If you are interested in joining the WWA Advocacy Committee or would like to nominate someone else to join us, please contact the committee Chair, Angela Ellis at aellis@mhsi.org.
 
  • WWA Scholarships for Conferences & Continuing Education Opportunities (1/27/23)
      • WWA is offering scholarships to help members attend continuing education opportunities based on request and available funds. Members are to submit an application request here. Requests can be submitted at any time throughout the year. The WWA Board will review and approve or deny at monthly meetings.

  • By-Law Updates (1/27/23)
    • You voted, and the results are in! The proposed by-law changes have been passed! See the updated 2021-2023 WWA By-Laws here
    • As a result of the recent update to the WWA By-Laws, the WWA Board of Directors is looking for up to 5 interested WIC supporters to serve a one year term. These individuals will be voted in by the WWA Board of Directors and must be able to attend monthly board meetings. If you’re interested in joining our monthly meetings to learn more about WWA and what we do, you can apply here! Please discuss with your project’s director before applying.
